NT: Quartermaine says he has no aspirations to be leader

ATSIC's acting chairman LIONEL QUARTERMAINE says he has no aspirations to be leader
of the peak Aboriginal body.

Indigenous Affairs Minister AMANDA VANSTONE is expected to make a decision on ATSIC's
suspended chairman GEOFF CLARK this week.

Mr CLARK faces the sack for misbehavior after his appeal against a conviction for obstructing
police in a pub brawl failed last week.

In Darwin, Mr QUARTERMAINE -- ATSIC's deputy chairman -- has told journalists he has
no intention at all to become chairman at this time in his life.
