NSW: Hard hitting road safety campaign targets rural NSW

SYDNEY, Jan 14 AAP - A hard-hitting campaign targeting speeding in rural New South
Wales will begin on Sunday in a move to curb a rise in deaths on country roads.

Launching the $1.3 million campaign today, NSW Acting Roads Minister Morris Iemma said
376 people died on country roads last year - 19 more than in 1998.

The majority of deaths were caused by motorists speeding in 100 kph zones with 85 per
cent of accidents occurring on road bends.
